Car air purifier: neutralises odours and pollutants inside your car without electricity

The AIRPURLABS 30 g air purifier cleans the air inside your car — up to 3 m³ — without electricity, without plugging in and without a masking fragrance. It binds formaldehyde permanently and captures volatile organic compounds (VOCs), found in particular in the new materials of the car interior and in exhaust fumes from surrounding traffic, and neutralises stubborn odours such as tobacco. Its efficacy was measured by the independent FCBA institute according to ISO 16000-23: −44% formaldehyde within 24 hours and around −30% for the other VOCs tested (toluene, n-dodecane), in a test chamber.

A technology born of research: two capture mechanisms

The AIRPURLABS® active ingredient traps pollutants in two ways:

• By chemisorption, for formaldehyde. This very small, highly volatile molecule is poorly retained by conventional absorbers, which release it again. Here, a specific reagent binds it permanently within the active ingredient, where it is converted into a stable compound that remains trapped there. No pollutant is released into the air: once captured, the formaldehyde does not come back out.
• By adsorption, for the other VOCs (benzene, toluene, n-dodecane…). These molecules bind to a high-performance activated carbon: 1,000 m² of exchange surface per gram, giving 3 hectares of contact surface in this 30 g purifier.

This formulation is the result of a year of research with the CNRS and the Université de Haute-Alsace, and is covered by a patent.

The wool pad lets the air inside the car circulate continuously. No batteries, no cigarette-lighter plug, no maintenance.

Technical specifications

* Lifespan depends on use: smoking in particular shortens the period of efficacy. Unopened and kept in its airtight packaging, the purifier has no expiry date.

Frequently asked questions

How long does this car air purifier last?
Up to 2 years under normal conditions of use. Smoking in the car speeds up the saturation of the active ingredient and shortens this period.

Does it work with the engine off?
Yes. The AIRPURLABS® active ingredient works continuously through simple contact with the air in the car — it needs no power supply, so the engine does not need to be running.

Is it effective against tobacco odour in a car?
Yes, it is one of the most common uses of this format: cigarette odour is particularly persistent in an enclosed car interior, and the purifier neutralises it rather than masking it.
